One of the main goals for Coffee Bar’s third location was to revitalize a stretch of sidewalk that had been fallow for over 20 years, by opening the concrete shear wall at the sidewalk. Once the space was connected to the pedestrians, the goal was to highlight the artistry of the barista. Materials were kept to a minimum. At the exterior, the only material added was wood siding. The siding is scorched to the left of the opening and wraps into the interior becoming a large black frame surrounding the baristas. In three dimension, the frame becomes a room within a room.
